Our Pandemic Preparations
Monitoring World Reports
Back to Overview
Monitoring situation reports from the World Health Organization, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other authoritative bodies so that we are ready to enact our plans as needed:
- H1N1 has been declared a pandemic flu based on its worldwide spread, not its severity. We have not seen large numbers of severe cases. However, we are prepared to react if that changes. To assure that we take appropriate action on a timely basis. Aetna's medical staff is regularly monitoring information from the World Health Organization, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other leading public health agencies monitoring the spread and potential risk of H1N1. We also coordinate with the emergency management community as well as public health and other regulatory agencies to assure that up-to-date clinical and epidemiological information is translated into appropriate, coordinated responses for our employee and members.
